I’m still on a high from attending the first ever GirlBoss Rally last Saturday In LA! It was the most exciting, inspiring, beautiful and authentic collaboration of women I’ve ever seen. I knew going in that it would be big, but I had no idea this conference would have such a lasting and powerful impression on myself, as well as all of the wonderful women I met.
I was immediately swept off my feet by how feminine but badass the loft was set up. After signing in (VIP passes allowed me in quick and early!) we were taken into a large, bright pink room which, to my surprise, turned out to be a giant elevator that took us to the 4th floor. We stepped out to be greeted by a DJ, inspiring quotes all over the walls, and a beautiful collection of modern furniture and colorful decorations of painted palm fronds and various flowers.
The set up itself was stunning, and they had separate activities set up such as a Bumble Photobooth, Squarespace where we had the opportunity to learn about building our own website, blog, and business, and a rooftop activity building necklaces which was sponsored by Brit&Co. Dinner and lunch were provided by Sweetgreen, and coffee was provided by Moon Juice, both of which were delicious and I highly recommend them!!
I signed up for the Ballerroom so I was there for most of the conference. We started off with a speech from the OG of Girlboss herself, Sophia Amoruso.*
We also had the pleasure of listening to tons of other motivation speeches, talks, and interviews from inspiring entrepreneurs such as Gabby Bernstein, Kevin Systrom**, Whitney Cummings, Lilly Singh, and the entire cast of the new upcoming TV show, Girlboss.
The entire Rally, from the Loft to the speakers to the attendees, was full of inspiration and empowerment.
The Rally ended with cocktail hour, and a super cool (VIP) bag filled with SO many amazing products! That was definitely one of my favorite tangible takeaways.
This whole experience had me reminiscing what got me to the rally to begin with. A few years ago I was in a really bad place; I was unhappy with where I was in my life and I knew something had to change, so I decided to make that happen. In 2015 I made a ton of resolutions (New Years and other) in order to turn my life around, and one of them included to read 2 books a month. The first book on my list was a random pick I saw at the bookstore: Girlboss. Sophia’s story was so close to that of my parents, the typical American Dream, and I fell in love with her story and her determination. She became my inspiration in so many ways, and I never imagined I would have the pleasure of meting her, let alone attending a conference filled with so many inspiring people from all over the world!
This conference was such a success, and we can only hope there will be more! The rally might be over but the friendships I made are far from it. And to Sohpia and the Girlboss gang, you outdid yourself.
*AKA, the Queen. I couldn’t stop fangirling. Read her books, I promise you’ll love them both.
